Welcome Centers
There are some welcome centers or tourist information centers along interstate
highways in each state. They are usually located near the border of each state.
That is, they play a role for the gateway of each state. I am sure they
have helped not only many visitors but also me a lot.
First, they provide visitors with useful information about sightseeing
spots of each state. Especially to me, it is very helpful because I have
no idea where to go in some state such as Nebraska and Kentucky where I've never
imagined going. For example, in Nebraska I couldn't go to the Monument
Arch without recommendation of staff in Tourist Information.
Second, they sometimes help me to learn new information about each state.
In a welcome center, a staff told me that Lincoln was lived in Indiana.
In addition, in Kentucky a staff showed me that the capital of Kenturcky
is Frankfort along I-64. Without it, I just passed through there like only
one of many towns.
Third, they are equipped with facilities for rest such as rest rooms, waters, desks, and chairs. Sometimes, we can drink free coffee there. More importantly, they stand around trees grasses, and ponds, which make us relaxed.
Although their usefulness is beyond question, a question came into my head
through frequent use of them. So, it is why the staff members there are
always old women who are like gentle, calm, and educated. So, they are
just like teachers in elementary school where I went. Today, a staff member
in Indiana welcome center gave me a very useful and special brochure of
summary of state information, which is usually distributed for children. |
