Grand Teton NP - The Most Filmed and Photographed Mountain Range in the World, The Tetons
Grand Teton NP has been my favorite because it looks one of the best places to take pictures. As I had expected, it was very nice. In addition, easiness to
drive there and to find vista points also improved my impression.
Basically there are two drive ways in the Park. That is, "Teton Park Road" and "US-26/89/191, US-89/191/287, or US-89/191/287." If you drive just along the first two US highways from Jackson, park fee is not necessary, I think. Anyway, these
two roads are really scenic roads. In addition, since the speed limit of
US highways is 55mph and Teton Park Road is 45mph. Moreover, there is no
traffic jam, which sometimes occurs in Yellowstone NP. So, it was really
comfortable time for me to drive there.
As to vista points, you can easily find the good places to view by finding the sign of "overlook" or "turnout" and dropping at there. Each
point offers different marvelous view of Tetons, which is mixed with river,
lake, and wildflowers. As some books recommend, "Snake River Overlook"
and "Oxbow Bend Turnout" are really good. In addition to these
two points, "Jenny Lake Overlook" and "Cunningham Cabin
Historic Site" were also nice.
Only one unsatisfaction was I could not get there until sunrise in spite
of leaving West Yellowstone at 5:00 AM. According to information in Moose
Visitor Center, sunrise time is about 4:45 AM in these days. So, I have
to leave before that time tomorrow. |
