Yellowstone NP - The World's First National Park
I think Yellowstone NP is too large to see all of it in short days. According
to an official brochure, there are six villages with each visitor center
and various sightseeing spots; "Mammoth Hot Springs," "Old
Faithful," "Canyon Village," "West Thumb and Grant
Village," "Fishing Bridge, Lake Village and Bridge Bay,"
and "Tower-Roosevelt." What surprised me was that the size of
this park is twice of that of "Yamanashi Prefecture" where Mt.
Fuji is in Japan. So, it was hard to choose which place I should go and
see.
To choose the sightseeing spots, the comment of my friend, who visited
at this park about a week earlier, helped me. He told me that although
geysers and wildlife are great others were not as good as expected. So,
I focus on "Old Faithful" where I can see many and various geysers. This morning although I tried to also go to Canyon Village to
see wildlife before going to "Old Faithful," I gave up doing
so because it seemed to take three or four hours to get there.
My choice was good. Views of various geysers there has never tired me because each one was different shape, color, and size. In addition, what each geyser was named after its color or something like that was also interests
me. So, I walk some trails along which I could see those geysers in spite
of its long distance. Above all, predicted geysers such as Riverside Geyser
were impressive because it was true that they erupt about at exact interval
from days to hours.
After enjoying these geysers, I went to Canyon Village not to see wildlife
but to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. It was one of the most impressive
views in the National Parks I've ever seen because rocks there was really
yellow. And fortunately, I could see "Buffalo" very closely on
the way there. |
