Chicago - The Windy City
My impression of Chicago was pretty good. Fortunately for Chicago, it was perfect day for sightseeing.
First of all, it was a good weather. Blue sky and pleasant cool breeze
from Lake Michigan helped me to walk around the downtown. In addition,
I could see a lot of people enjoying fine weather in the downtown, park,
lakefront, and beach. If it had been bad weather, my impression would have
been bad, too.
Second, there was no traffic jam because I used subways for transportation. It took me only thirty minutes to get to the downtown from the motel although
it took almost two hours between the downtown and the motel by car the
day before yesterday. In addition, I could prepare for how to go and see
my destinations in the subway. Moreover, how many times I used subways,
it was same rate.
Third, at Chicago Historical Society, which was the last destination today,
I could see an interesting exhibit, "The American Presidency."
Although it is always exhibited in Smithsonian Institution, Washington
D.C., it is in Chicago for just these four months. Since my knowledge about
American presidents has improved during this trip, it was very interesting.
And I could find something new. For example, "Teddy Bear" was
named after "Theodore Roosevelt." His face I watched in the short
film there really looks bear. It was the first time to know there are bowling
facility in the White House. Moreover, Lincoln established his career in
Illinois. |
