Independence of America
M y image of Philadelphia had been "Independence" and "Rocky."
So, my destinations today were "Independence Hall" and "Philadelphia
Museum of Art." The security check at the entrance of "Independence
Hall" seemed stricter than that in Smithsonian Institution in D.C.
I could make sure that Independence Hall including the Liberty Bell is
one of the most important American symbols. After visiting there I went
to the Philadelphia Museum by touring bus. As I expected, some people, who posed as Rocky, took pictures and run "Rocky Steps."
Unfortunately, I could not run because I had still a severe pain of my
knee. I should not have jogged in D.C!!
First Impression of New York
There was no order. For example, cars don't care about pedestrian, and frequently cut into. In addition, here is greatly crowded. Wherever I look
around, I almost move through the crowd. Moreover, neon light flashed ostentatiously.
Besides, there are some flat parking spaces between tall buildings, many
one ways, many taxis, continuous noise of horns, and some under construction
sites. If I compared this city to a Japanese city, it's Minami, a south
area of Osaka City. Although the size of Minami is much smaller than that
of New York City and the height of buildings are much lower than that in
New York City, I am sure Minami also has no order, crowded people, and garish neon signs. It's interesting to note that I could feel
bottomless people's power in both cities. As I mentioned, as to size, New
York is beyond comparison with Minami. So, NY had much stronger power,
which made me energetic and drove me to go to the observatory of "Empire
State Building." in spite that I was very exhausted. Although it was
cloudy night, its view was so wonderful. No matter how many times I'll
be there, I just could not get enough of the spectacular view. |
