This site is devoted entirely to the three types of Hotwheels released on Japanese cards and sold in Japan between 1999 and present.

Hotwheels basic cars were sold on Japanese cards for only two years from Spring of 1999 to Winter of 2000. At first they were distributed by Mattel Japan Inc., but after about a year, the distribution was taken over by the Japanese toymaker Bandai. In addition to the basic cars, Bandai began packaging Hotwheels with a piece of candy and selling them through supermarkets and convenience stores. In the beginning of 2001, these candy cars disappeared, and though Bandai has continued to distribute the basic cars, the Japanese cards have given way to the standard English cards. At the start of 2001, however, Bandai began producing an original series of Hotwheels exclusive to Japan. This is called the Charawheel series and is based on cars and bikes appearing primarily in old Japanese animated and live action television programs.

On this site I've cataloged my entire collection of over 500 cars and you'll find pictures of all of them here. I've done my best to collect every one of the Japanese cards, and I'm always on the lookout for any cars that I don't have, so if you've got one, let me know, I'd be very interested in cataloging it. I update the Charawheels page every few weeks, so check back now and again to see the new releases. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or comments. Hope you enjoy the page, thanks for visiting!
