Together with researchers, artists and students, they will undertake fieldwork in different locations in Japan and Australia to document the effects of weather on the built and natural environment through sound recording. The aim of the project is to interrogate the effects of climate change by concentrating on the propagation of acoustical phenomena over time and space to promote a deeper understanding of how weather events shape specific environments. To achieve this, a specially designed multi-microphone recording station will be deployed in a variety of locations over sustained periods of time to simultaneously record air, water and structure based sound using a combination of accelerometers, hydrophones and omnidirectional microphones synchronized to a multichannel recording device. These recordings will be translated into surround sound compositions to afford immersive and tactile experiences of the fieldwork. As a result of this process surround sound maps of various meteorological events will be produced to incorporate the full morphological development of sound spectra over time and space to enhance the experience and understanding of these events. The result of this research will be presented in different venues in Tokyo and Melbourne. The first event will happen on November 12, 2011, at Tokyo Superdeluxe with special guests : Haco and Sato Minoru -m/s. He researches in the areas of sound art, acoustic ecology and spatial sound practices, with a specific focus on art and emergency medicine, and environmental sustainability. His PhD, Surround Sound in Installation Art, examined the place of sound in contemporary art practice through a range of site determined sound art projects. In 2010 Philip was awarded fellowships by the Australia Council for the Arts, and the Australian Antarctic Division to document the effects of extreme climate and weather events on the human condition at Davis Station in Eastern Antarctica. フィリップ・サマーティスは作曲家、音楽家、そして RMIT School of Artコーディネーターです。芸術と救急医療、および環境のサステナビリティ（持続可能性）の観点から、サウンドアート、音響生態学や空間的な音響制作を 研究しています。博士論文「インスタレーションアートにおけるサラウンドサウンド」では、サイトスペシフィック（特定の場所）のサウンドアート・プロジェ クトを通して、現代美術での音の位置づけを調査しました。 2010年に、オーストラリアカウンシルとオーストラリア南極局から奨学金を得て、東南極のデービス基地での極端な気候の中で活動している人々の状態や、 気象の影響を調査しました。 Simon Perry http://www.rmit.edu.au/staff/SimonPerry Simon Perry is a visual artist and academic and has a particular interest in Art in Public Space. Over the last 20 years the key focus of his art practice has been the research, design and production of significant and high-profile urban public art in Australia and internationally. Her PhD, Superflat Worlds: a topography of Takashi Murakami and the cultures of Superflat art, examined the contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami as an example of a contemporary art practice that is strategically located within the processes of contemporary globalisation. She is currently conducting research on art and the urban experience, and is a member of the RMIT Global Cities Research Institute (Globalization and Culture program). クリステン・シャープは、RMITで美術史や芸術理論のコーディネーターを勤めており、グローバル化、都市化と文化的アイデンティティに焦点を当てなが ら、文化研究と美術史の分野で研究を行っています。「スーパーフラットワールド：村上隆とスーパーフラットアートの文化の地形」について博士論文を執筆 し、現代のグローバル化のプロセスの中の現代美術の実践の例として、現代の日本人アーティスト村上隆氏の活動を調査しました。現在、アートと都市的体験に 関する研究を行い、グローバリゼーションと文化に関わるプログラム「RMITグローバル都市研究所」のメンバーです。 Christophe Charles http://home.att.ne.jp/grape/charles/ Christophe Charles (born Marseille 1964), works with found sounds, and makes compositions using computer programs, insisting on the autonomy of each sound and the absence of hierarchical structure. Currently Professor at Musashino Art University (Tokyo). C.C. has released solo CDs on the German label Mille Plateaux / Ritornell ("undirected" series), and on several compilations (Mille Plateaux, Ritornell, Subrosa, Code, Cirque, Cross, X-tract, CCI, ICC, etc). Haco has created numerous recordings both as producer and sound designer. As a musician, she has given performances throughout Japan and the world. With her unique sensibility, Haco has developed a practice based on principles of post-punk, electroacoustics, the avant-garde, improvisation, post-rock, environmental sound, and technology.
