“When they saw the star they were fillied with joy”-- Mathew 2:10

It started in year 2001 to help in finding alternative source of income for Filipino single mothers by making the traditional bamboo, paper and plastic star shaped “parol” or Christmas lantern. In 2003 the Filipino communities and the Philippine Embassy picks the program and launched search for the best made Christmas lantern. By year 2005 wherein the issue of removing the “Article 9” in the Japanese constitution, the education campaign insignia of not to alter “Article 9” of the Catholic Justice and Peace Council was placed at the center of the parol and called as the Prince of Peace Lantern.

Indeed the Annual Christmas Lantern Campaign is an evangelization project of CJFF and making every Filipinos in Japan a missionary even just during Christmas season. Once the parol is hanged inside the house or displayed publicly Filipino will definitely explains that the parol symbolizes the star of Bethlehem that guided the three kings to find baby Jesus.
