Attack No 1 was a major inspiration to a generation of Japanese women. By following the exploits of Kozue and Midori, both in the ground-breaking manga, and the popular TV series, they learned that they didn't have to be second best.
The series follows the fortunes of Kozue Ayuhara, as
she starts a new school, reluctantly joins the volleyball team, and sets out to
be number one in her sport.
How her image found itself on Jonny Greenwood's guitar is a mystery.
